There's no love lost between the Palestinians of Gaza and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Last summer, Netanyahu's government sanctioned a bombing campaign against Gaza which cost over 2100 Palestinian lives, mostly civilians.
Gaza remains largely in ruins and promises of funds from the international community have so far failed to materialise. In addition, a blockade in place since 2007 continues to stifle the supply of essential items and restrict Palestinians' freedom of movement.
As such, news that his Likud party had won the largest number of seats in March's Israeli elections was greeted with a mixture of dismay and indifference.
