Israeli police hunt for Jewish suspect after Bedouin man stabbed

Suspect described by police as 'visibly religious' with investigators suggesting incident in Ashdod was 'nationalistically motivated'

A Bedouin man was stabbed on Thursday morning in the port of Ashdod in southern Israel, according to Israeli media reports.

The 40-year-old was treated by paramedics for stab wounds following the incident, the Haaretz newspaper reported.

Police were searching for a Jewish suspect described as "visibly religious" while investigators said that the incident may have been nationalistically motivated.

Earlier on Thursday a 20-year-old Bedouin man was arrested in the southern city Be'er Sheva after he had grabbed a security guard's sidearm.

Police said the man had been arrested after fleeing on foot.
