Fresh clashes at Tripoli airport, seven killed

Seven people, including three Egyptian workers, were killed in fresh clashes on Wednesday near the Tripoli airport in the Libyan capital.

The workers were killed when their building was struck by several Grad rockets, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported, giving no further details.

Four Libyans were also killed and 24 others injured in clashes in southern Tripoli, the news agency said.

There has been no comment from either Egyptian or Libyan authorities.

Last week, clashes erupted in Tripoli between Libya Shield forces (a part of the Libyan army) and the Al-Qaaqaa and Al-Sawaaq militias near Tripoli's airport.

Al-Qaqaa and Al-Sawaaq are two of the largest and best equipped armed militias to have been established in the wake of Muammar Gaddafi's ouster three years ago.

Libyan authorities have struggled to restore law and order since Gaddafi's 2011 ouster and death, with several local militias – which had helped overthrow the strongman – refusing to give up their weapons.
