Armed group claims strikes on US military bases in Iraq

An Iraqi armed group claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on US military bases, saying it carried out five strikes in the past 24 hours.

Saraya Awliya al-Dam said in a statement on its Telegram channel that it had targeted American facilities in the region, though the claims could not be independently verified.

Separately, authorities said 10 drones were intercepted and destroyed over the northern Iraqi city of Erbil within a single hour.

A government official told the Kurdish news outlet Rudaw that all of the drones were downed, adding that hundreds of drones and missiles have targeted the Kurdish region since the start of the war.
