Live blog update| Israel's war on Gaza

Evening recap

Good evening Middle East Eye readers,

Syrians were celebrating the downfall of the Assad dynasty on Sunday, but bombs continue to hit Gaza. At least 25 Palestinians have been killed and dozens injured on Sunday evening due to Israeli bombing that targeted Gaza City and al-Bureij camp in central Gaza. Later in the day, Reuters reported that ten Palestinians were killed in additional strikes.

As Assad’s ouster was confirmed, the Palestinian Authority said that the State of Palestine and its people stand by the Syrian people, respecting their will and political choices, in a way that guarantees their security and stability and preserves their achievements.

Here’s what else you need to know about Friday's developments in Israel's war on Gaza:

  • Benjamin Netanyahu has said the fall of Assad's government in Syria may advance a deal for the return of Israeli captives in Gaza
  • Hamas had told Palestinian groups in Gaza to compile information on the captives they hold in preparation for a ceasefire and hostage-release deal with Israel
  • Israeli military confirmed carrying out an air strike in the southern Lebanon village of Dibbine
  • The director of northern Gaza's Kamal Adwan hospital said on Sunday the lives of more than 100 patients were in danger after electricity, oxygen and water supplies were cut by Israeli attack
