Germany's Merz, Egypt's Sisi discuss Gaza

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz spoke with Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on the phone on Friday, praising Egypt's role in helping seek an end to Israel's war on Gaza and promising further German support.

"The Chancellor stressed that Germany would continue to engage with Egypt for the release of hostages, a stable ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and the reconstruction of Gaza," read a German government statement.
