Health ministry extends Gaza polio vaccination campaign

The UN-led polio vaccination drive in Gaza has been extended by a day in order to allow more people to access vaccination centres amid Israeli attacks, the Palestinian Health Ministry said today.

The campaign, which aims to vaccinate a total of 640,000 children across the enclave, was launched to combat the spread of the virus due to the destruction of hygiene and sanitation facilities by Israeli attacks.

Last month, Gaza reported its first polio case in 25 years.
