Israel's ex-prime minister supports pardoning Netanyahu if he leaves politics

Former Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett said he will support prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu receiving a pardon for his corruption trial if he agrees to leave politics.

"In recent years, the State of Israel has been led to chaos and to the brink of a civil war that threatens its very existence," Bennett wrote on X.

"To rescue Israel from the chaos, I will support a binding agreement that will include a dignified withdrawal from political life alongside the end of the trial," he said.

"This way we will be able to put it behind us, unite and, together, restore the country."
