Netanyahu says Assad's fall could advance Gaza deal
8 December 2024 16:43 GMT
Benjamin Netanyahu has said the fall of Assad's government in Syria may advance a deal for the return of Israeli captives in Gaza, according to the Israeli prime minister's office.
Netanyahu met separately with two groups representing families of the captives in Jerusalem.
He reportedly told them that Assad's toppling "could help advance a deal to bring back the hostages" - although it is unclear why he argued that.
