Unicef: 45,000 six-year-olds in Gaza cannot start school

The United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) has said that, as the new school year was due to start across Palestine today, 45,000 six-year-old children in Gaza cannot start school due to displacement and relentlees Israeli attacks.
In a post on X, Unicef added that, in total 625,000 children have already been denied an entire school year and face a second year without education.
The agency said it is setting up temporary learning spaces, but urged: "What these children truly need, above all, is a ceasefire."
