Turkish-funded hospital in Gaza to close because of fuel shortages

The Gaza Ministry of Health said the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, the besieged territory’s only oncology hospital which treats people with tumours, will be forced to close in the next 48 hours because of fuel shortages.

In a statement, Dr Subhi Skaik, who runs the hospital, said: “Closure of our hospital means all oncology patients in the Gaza Strip will be without any services for the foreseeable future.”

Funded by the Turkish government via the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (Tika), the hospital has a capacity of 180 beds.
