A 72-year-old Palestinian woman was fatally shot by Israeli soldiers north of the West Bank city of Hebron.

Thawrat al-Sharawi was driving her car in the village of Halhul when Israeli soldiers fired at her.

Sharawi, whose husband was killed by Israeli forces in the first intifada, was taken to the Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem and was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Israeli army said that Sharawi had attempted to run over the soldiers.

"The force identified the threat and responded with fire toward the assailant," an Israeli military spokeswoman told AFP.

The Jerusalem Post reported that a “suspicious vehicle” drove at Israeli soldiers before they opened fire.

No Israeli injuries were reported.

In the Gaza strip, 23-year-old Salameh Mousa Abu Jame' was shot and killed by Israeli forces.

Abu Jame' was protesting east of Khan Younis south of the strip before he was shot. Dozens of protesters demonstrated north of the strip near the Erez checkpoint, before Israeli soldiers fired tear gas canisters to disperse them.

The latest casualties brings the death toll to 75 Palestinians killed since the beginning of October, including 17 children and three women.

Elsewhere Friday, a Palestinian stabbed and seriously wounded an Israeli outside a supermarket at a West Bank settlement.

"A Palestinian attacked and stabbed an Israeli outside a supermarket in Shaar Binyamin, injuring him severely," it said in a statement. "The assailant fled the scene."

In Hebron, two Israelis were injured by live fire near the Ibrahimi Mosque, also known as the Cave of Patriarchs.

In the village of Beit Einun, north of Hebron, an Israeli soldier was shot and wounded.

In both cases, the gunman was not known.

Israeli forces are conducting a search in the area for the suspect.

Palestinian witnesses said they heard sporadic exchanges of gunfire in the area, with Israeli forces shouting loudly.
