Twitter responds to Qatar World Cup 2022 corruption allegations

Fresh allegations of corruption concerning the 2022 World Cup bid have surfaced

Social media responded in earnest to allegations that a high-ranking Qatari FIFA official had bribed officials to secure Qatar's 2022 World Cup bid. The fresh corruption charges are based on a series of leaked emailed obtained by the Sunday Times and published today. 

Much of the outrage focused on Qatar's poor labour rights record, which has lead to the death of hundreds of Asian migrant workers in the last few years.

But many comments took on a lighter nature. 

While others chose to comment on the long-running controversies over Qatar's bid - namely that the soaring summer temperatures would be too hot for the players and that the grand stadiums may not be built on time.
