Footage emerged on Wednesday of Israeli soldiers chasing a group of Palestinian protesters in a village north of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank.

The video shows young male Palestinians with their faces covered fleeing armed troops in the village of Sufaih.

One of the young men is seen to be beaten by the soldiers, who kick and hit him with their guns.

The Shehab News Agency, which posted the footage to Facebook, identified the youth as 17-year-old Omar al-Heih.

The Israeli troops are also seen to fire at the rest of the fleeing protesters.

The footage comes amid soaring violence in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

WIth a wave of knife attacks by Palestinians targeting Israelis, many of them civilian, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to "cut the hand off" anyone who "hurts" Israel.
