Khabat Abbas is an independent journalist and video producer from northeastern Syria. Since 2011, she has been covering the developments from the front lines in Syria, including demonstrations, the fight against the Islamic State group and its aftermath. In 2021, Khabat was awarded the Kurt Schork Award in International Journalism in the News Fixer category.
