In Greater Cairo, with a population of at least 15 million, you cannot escape Ramadan's lanterns and decorations that hang around every corner. Despite difficult economic and political times, the city is still abuzz as Egyptians mark the Holy Month.
But there is a key, clearly-visible difference to remind passers-by that their country has been embroiled in a period of transition and turbulence, as the face of newly-elected President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi now adorns many of these otherwise ordinary Ramadan decorations.
