New York: Car ploughs into pedestrians in Times Square

A vehicle traveling at speed hit pedestrians in New York’s Times Square on Thursday, killing one and injuring at least 13 others

Witnesses said the motorist had driven against traffic and onto the sidewalk, striking pedestrians, Reuters reported. The car crashed into a pole and came to rest at 45th Street and Broadway.

At least one person has been killed, CBS reported. At least 13 people were treated for injuries, the New York Fire Department reported. 

Police has said that the incident was not related to terrorism, CBS reported.

The New York Police Department has closed off the area.

The driver was removed from the vehicle, which was a red sedan, CBS reported.
