Netanyahu cancels US delegation after UN Security Council vote

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he is cancelling a high-level delegation to Washington after the US refrained from vetoing a draft UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

In a statement, the prime minister's office said that the decision was “a clear retreat from the consistent US position in the Security Council since the beginning of the war”, and one that “gives Hamas hope that international pressure will allow them to get a ceasefire without releasing our hostages”.
