Netanyahu condemns US university protests as 'horrific' amid Gaza assault

On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu labelled pro-Palestinian student protests in US universities as "horrific", insisting that such demonstrations "have to be stopped".

Demonstrations across US universities have erupted in response to Israel's ongoing assault on Gaza, leading to widespread arrests and class cancellations at renowned institutions like Columbia University.

"What's happening in America's college campuses is horrific," Netanyahu said in a statement, accusing "antisemitic mobs" of taking over leading universities.

"It's unconscionable. It has to be stopped. It has to be condemned and condemned unequivocally," he said. "The response of several university presidents was shameful. Now, fortunately, state, local, [and] federal officials, many of them have responded differently but there has to be more. More has to be done."
