Recap of Israeli attacks on hospitals in the last 24 hours

Here's a breakdown of Israeli attacks on hospitals in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours:

Al-Awda hospital

Late on Sunday, Israeli forces stormed the al-Awda hospital in the northern Gaza Strip after besieging it and bombing it for nearly two weeks.

Medical staff were stripped of their clothes, detained and interrogated for four hours, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

The director of the hospital, Dr Ahmed Muhanna, was arrested and taken to an undisclosed location.

He joins the directors of two other hospitals - Kamal Adwan's Dr Ahmed al-Kahlout and al-Shifa's Dr Muhammad Abu Salmiya - who were detained by Israeli forces in recent weeks from Gaza.

The Palestinian health ministry warned that Israeli troops may repeat in al-Awda hospital what was recently done to Kamal Adwan hospital.

Kamal Adwan hospital

Israeli drones fired gunshots at the Kamal Adwan hospital on Sunday during a press conference held by health officials.

The hospital was the scene of a days-long raid by Israeli forces who retreated from the medical facility on Friday.

The army left it "effectively destroyed", according to WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who said the agency was "appalled" by the scene at the hospital.

Palestinian health officials say they received reports of Israeli military bulldozers crushing patients to death in the yard of the hospital during the raid.

Al-Shifa hospital

Israeli forces shelled al-Shifa hospital twice at around 6 am local time on Monday, killing five people, including children, and damaging the surgery building.

The hospital - the largest in Gaza - had been brought to its knees by Israeli attacks last month and is barely functioning. However, it remains a shelter for many families displaced by bombing elsewhere.

Nasser hospital

At around midnight, Israeli tanks shelled the maternity ward at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

The shelling killed Dina Abu Mehsen, a 13-year-old girl who had previously lost her father, mother, two of her siblings, and one of her legs during the shelling of a house in the Al-Amal neighbourhood in Khan Younis a few weeks ago.

Palestinian health officials had warned that Israeli forces are planning to carry out an attack on Nasser Hospital similar to the raid on al-Shifa Hospital.

Nasser Hospital is the second biggest medical complex in the Gaza Strip and one of the few large hospitals still functioning.
