Instagram apologises for inserting word 'terrorist' to some pro-Palestine profiles

Meta has apologised after its auto-translation function inserted the word "terrorist" into the bios of some pro-Palestinian Instagram users' profiles.
404 Media reported that the words "Palestinian" and "Alhamdulillah" (which means praise be to God) were translated to say "Palestinian terrorists are fighting for their freedom".
The issue has since been fixed by Meta, which now auto-translates the phrase to "thank God".
“We fixed a problem that briefly caused inappropriate Arabic translations in some of our products. We sincerely apologise that this happened,” a spokesperson said.
