Israel-Palestine war: Gigi Hadid attacked by Israel's official Instagram account

Israel's account targets Hadid after model posts message saying 'there is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians'

The state of Israel's official Instagram account has hit out at Gigi Hadid, after the American model shared a statement about the ongoing Israel-Palestine war.

Hadid, whose Palestinian father and his family were forced from their home during the Nakba, posted an infographic on her Instagram account that read: "There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians. Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas."

Israel's account responded with a repurposed version of the infographic and a message that read: "Have you been sleeping the past week Gigi? Or are you just fine turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their homes? Your silence has been very clear about where you stand. We see you."

The text in the photo posted by Israel's account read: “There is nothing valiant about Hamas’ massacre of Israelis. Condemning Hamas for what it is (ISIS) is not anti-Palestine and supporting Israelis in their fight against barbaric terrorists is the right thing to do.”

In a follow-up post, the State of Israel account shared an image of what appeared to be blood on the floor next to children’s toys and clothing. Tagging Hadid, they added: “If you don’t condemn this your words mean nothing.”

Hadid, who is proud of her Palestinian heritage, is often a target for pro-Israel accounts. Last week, on 10 October, she shared a statement about the war in which she said: "While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person."
