Reports: Libya's Supreme Court says PM Miitig’s election illegal
Political uncertainty continues in Libya as Supreme Court reportedly rules Prime Minister Ahmed Miitig's election illegal

Libya's Supreme Court has thrown out the May election of Prime Minister Ahmed Miitig, ruling it illegal, according to media reports on Thursday.
Miitig's lawyers immediately filed an appeal against the ruling, Reuters reported. However, analysts have told the Middle East Eye that the reports may be premature and that the Supreme Court has going into recess to consider its verdict which is expected to be announced later today.
Interim parliament the General National Congress elected Miitig on 4 May after a chaotic session. Former prime minister Abdullah al-Thani stepped down in April following an attack on his home, however, he had failed to hand over power because of the questions over Miitig’s legitimacy.
