Imam Jamil Dweikat, a 17-year-old Palestinian killed by Israeli forces near the West Bank town of Nablus on Monday, was buried today with thousands of mourners attending the funeral procession.

Another teenager, 19-year-old Nael Thiab, was also injured in the incident.

While some Israeli media reported that Dweikat was throwing rocks at Israeli settlers, Palestinian security sources insist he has throwing stones at Israeli soldiers.

The family, however, speaking to MEE said that Dweikat was not throwing stones at all, and lashed out at the harsh and often deadly tactics used by Israeli forces.

His younger brother Islam Dweikat, repeatedly expressed his anger at what he said was an illegal and unprovoked killing that will only fuel resentment and enflame hatreds.

Dweikat is the 50th Palestinian to be killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank this year while around 20 Palestinians have been killed by the army in the West Bank since June, according to an AFP tally.
