Soldiers shot at residents who confronted them after an undercover unit arrested a young man from the camp, leaving three people wounded, according to Palestinian media.

An Israeli army spokesperson told AFP the incident was under investigation.

The Fatah movement in Jericho has declared a general strike, excluding the health sector, in the district, Wafa said.

Similar raids were carried out in various parts of the West Bank on Tuesday, including in Jenin, Nablus and Qalqilya.

Oweidat's death brings the total number of Palestinians in the West Bank killed by Israeli forces this year to 50.

On Friday, 20-year-old Lutfi Labadi succumbed to his wounds after being shot by Israeli forces during army raids near Jenin earlier in the week.

Last week, Hanan Mahmoud Khaddour, 19, also succumbed to wounds after being shot by Israeli soldiers on her way home from a school lesson in Jenin. Another teenager, Shawkat Kamal Abed, 17, died in hospital after being shot near the northern West Bank city.
