At least 16 people, including 14 police conscripts, were injured in an explosion in the Egyptian city of Tanta in the vicinity of a police training centre, state news agency MENA reported on Saturday.

The Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram quoted eyewitnesses saying that a car exploded in front of the police training centre. The interior ministry said a booby-trapped motorcycle exploded outside the security forces facility.
