British police have charged an 18-year-old man in connection with the bomb attack at Parsons Green station in west London.

Ahmed Hassan, 18, of Sunbury, in Sunbury, southern England, has been charged with attempted murder and explosive offences "likely to endanger life or to cause serious injury to property".

The attack on a rush-hour District Line train was the UK's fifth major terrorism incident this year.

Hassan was arrested in the port area of Dover, south-east England, on Saturday morning. He was due to appear before Westminster magistrates on Friday afternoon.

Police said that two men, aged 25 and 30, remain in custody, while a 17-year-old male arrested yesterday was released today and faces no further action.

Two other men – aged 48 and 21 – who were released yesterday, will also face no further action.

"Searches are ongoing at one address in Surrey and two in Newport, Wales," police said in a statement. "The other searches have been completed."
