Israeli police forces killed a Palestinian man who allegedly shot and killed one Israeli and injured two others in occupied East Jerusalem’s Old City on Sunday morning, local media reported.

According to Israeli police, the Palestinian opened fire in the area of the Old City’s Chain Gate, shooting two civilians and two border police officers, before he was shot and killed.

One of the Israeli civilians died of their injuries, while the other sustained moderate wounds and the two officers were lightly injured, Israel’s emergency medical services reported.

Official Palestinian Authority news agency Wafa reported that Israeli forces had shut down the entrances of the Old City and set up checkpoints across the neighbourhood in the wake of the killing.
